INTERVIEWER: Denny Hamlin comes home third tonight. And where this team started yesterday afternoon and practice to where you are today– does it almost feel like, with this type of recovery, a win?
DENNY HAMLIN: Not really. [LAUGHS]
Not really. I’d like to be carrying the checkered flag like the 18 is there.
INTERVIEWER: But you guys were almost out to lunch, you felt like, yesterday.
DENNY HAMLIN: Yeah, we couldn’t make a lap. I mean, we honestly couldn’t make a lap on Friday without, you know, sliding up towards the wall. So we definitely made it better. I would say at the beginning– the first half of the race– we didn’t make it better. It was still really bad.
But we made some adjustments and made our car quite a bit better. Got some track position there with some good pit stops. And, you know, our car was extremely good in the long run, the second half of the race. And that kind of got us back in contention. And, you know, we just needed a 600 mile race.
INTERVIEWER: Thanks Denny.
