ANNOUNCER 1: One more big start to go for the 250s. There they go. Look at Savatgy come all the way across. Jeff, that was an amazing start.
ANNOUNCER 2: And he’s going to get the whole shot from the outside after qualifying through the last chance qualifier. Wow.
ANNOUNCER 1: Second hole shot for Savatgy. He got one in Houston. Oh! Man! I thought he was going to go right over the bars. That was so impressive. I thought he was going to ruin the night right after that spectacular start.
ANNOUNCER 2: And they’re just wheel to wheel right now. And this whoop section is going to tell the story.
ANNOUNCER 1: But look at McElrath through the whoops, Jeff. So quick through there. Get to the front of Savatgy in the middle of that big bowl turn. We’ve got a new leader.
Boy, Daniel, McElrath so good through those whoops. Savatgy on that 17 trying to do something we haven’t seen since Jordan Smith did it in Detroit last year. And that’s being a rider to win the last chance qualifier and then the main. But now he’s got even more work to do as Plessinger slides by to take over second.
ANNOUNCER 2: Oh, and this is such a hard– oh, here we go. Inside.
ANNOUNCER 1: That’s a good move, and it’s going to work for Aaron. And the crowd here loves it.
ANNOUNCER 2: Whoa!
ANNOUNCER 1: And they almost come together!
ANNOUNCER 2: Whoa! McElrath [INAUDIBLE] back and forth. Plessinger just landed off the triple and slammed the door.
Well, this is going to be the pass for the lead. And watch how McElrath, he gets hard on the throttle on the Red Bull KTM. Plessinger looks over and just– oh, that was– watch how sideways he gets right here. Clip, clip, back and forth. His athleticism and strength is what helped keep that KTM on two wheels right there. Of anyone that last time around–
ANNOUNCER 1: Oh!
ANNOUNCER 2: –had a 57.8.
ANNOUNCER 1: Savatgy makes a major mistake. There goes Adam. Jeff, it bit him again. Final lap is underway here. Plessinger got the win we talked about in Houston earlier this year to go on with victories in Seattle in 2017 and Indianapolis in 2016.
ANNOUNCER 2: Well, great thing about Plessinger and that Monster Energy Yamaha out front if he can take the checkered flag is we might get to see him do another dance.
ANNOUNCER 1: Pretty sure we will.
ANNOUNCER 2: Going to have that big smile on his face and well, well earned. He had to ride through the pack there past two of the best guys. Whoa, he gets a little hot. Trying to be cautious through there.
ANNOUNCER 1: You saw McElrath about three and a half seconds behind him. Checkered flag! There it is! Aaron Plessinger picks up his second win of 2018. And more importantly, he takes back the red plate for being the points leader.
– I got off to a great start and that’s a little unusual for me. But we got ’em down. The team and I went to work this week. And we practiced starts all week. And as you can see, it’s paying off.
And yeah, when I passed Shane I guess he said I cut over on him. But I apologized. But, you know, I want to win. We all want to win. And there’s only one way we can do that.
And, you know, it’s a great race. Me and him had a awesome race. And, you know, I just like to give it up to the whole Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha team. Yamalube, Star, Thor 100%, Bell, Alpine Star, Toyota of Escondido, The Blue Crew, Parts Unlimited, all the fans back at home. This one’s for the boys.
