Martin Truex Jr., 431 (15 playoff points)
Truex continues to position himself perfectly for the playoffs. If he can get the points lead and a few more wins, he’ll have quite a cushion built when the postseason starts.

7
Kyle Busch, 325 (2 playoff points)
Busch has led a ton of laps but seems to always have an issue or drop a little bit late in the races. He’s still been JGR’s best driver in 2017.

8
Jimmie Johnson, 323 (10 playoff points)
With two wins and a playoff spot secured, we might see Johnson start his summer hibernation and bank solid finishes. He was on pace for that at Kansas before wrecking late.

9
Joey Logano, 320 (1 playoff point)
It’s been a rough couple weeks for Logano. After having his Richmond win encumbered, he’s been involved in two brutal crashes the past two weeks.

10
Clint Bowyer, 317
The expectations for Bowyer are starting to shift now that we’ve seen he’s back to being a contender again. He’s poised to find his way to Victory Lane before the season’s over.

11
Ryan Blaney, 291 (3 playoff points)
Blaney couldn’t close out the race with a win but a top-five is a solid way to stop the bad luck streak he was on.

12
Denny Hamlin, 289 (1 playoff point)
Hamlin’s been hit-or-miss for most of 2017. After stringing together a couple top-10s, he’s back to middle of the pack results.

13
Ricky Stenhouse Jr., 276 (5 playoff points)
After winning at Talladega, Stenhouse plays the rest of the season with house money. He had solid Ford at Kansas and wound up 11th.

15
Kurt Busch, 246 (5 playoff points)

16
Kasey Kahne, 242
Kahne’s outperformed his results most weeks but currently sits as the first man out of the playoffs.

17
Ryan Newman, 238 (5 playoff points)
Newman’s engine let go early at Kansas but it wasn’t a huge issue since he’s already won a race this year.

18
Matt Kenseth, 233 (1 playoff point)
Kenseth has climbed from a rough start to the edge of a playoff position. Expect him to climb in on points and possible even score a win soon.

19
Aric Almirola, 223
Such a promising start to the season was abruptly halted last night when Almirola suffered a compression fracture in his back after a hard hit with Logano and Danica Patrick.
Hopefully, he’ll have a speedy recovery but his playoff hopes are likely over unless he returns and wins a race late in the regular season.

20
Daniel Suarez, 217
The 2016 XFINITY Series champion slowly keeps getting better. With his car inside the top 15 most of the race, it was a nice stride forward for Suarez.

21
Erik Jones, 217
This Rookie of the Year battle is turning into a great one. Jones has outperformed the other two drivers so far but sits tied with Suarez in points.

26
Chris Buescher, 155
Buescher has finished 21st or better in five of the last six races. Great progress by this JTG Daugherty bunch.
© Barry Cantrell LAT Images www.latphoto.co.uk Barry Cantrell
27
David Ragan, 144
Similar to Buescher, Ragan has improved his results over the past five races. He’s finished in the top 20 the past three events.
© Barry Cantrell LAT Images www.latphoto.co.uk Barry Cantrell
28
Michael McDowell, 137
A respectable 13th-place finish at Kansas is another step in the right direction for the Leavine Family Racing team.
© Barry Cantrell LAT Images www.latphoto.co.uk Barry Cantrell
29
Cole Whitt, 136
Whitt should be proud of his results so far this season. He’s exceeded expectations most weeks for TriStar Motorsports.
© Barry Cantrell LAT Images www.latphoto.co.uk Barry Cantrell
30
AJ Allmendinger, 130
Allmendinger must have passed his lucky charm to his teammate Buescher, because the No. 47 JTG Daughtery Chevrolet hasn’t finished better than 30th since Texas.
