With the addition of stage racing to NASCAR, drivers have a brand new way to collect points throughout a race. Some have been more successful than others at utilizing the added incentive.

10
Joey Logano, 16.5 percent of total points
Among the top drivers in NASCAR, Logano has finished well despite not banking nearly as many stage points as his fellow top-five competitors in the standings.
9
Jimmie Johnson, 19.5 percent
Johnson has scored stage points in nine of 14 chances but has only racked up 37 points. The seven-time champ said he didn’t think the stages would be a huge benefit for him when the season started and it seems to be the case still.

8
Jamie McMurray, 24.4 percent
Chip Ganassi has brought some fast race cars to the track and McMurray has found himself in the top 10 for nine different stages to equal 51 points.
7
Kyle Busch, 25.6 percent
Busch has only scored stage points in nine of 14 stages, but he grabs a lot when he’s up there. With 54 stage points, Busch elevates what would be a lower spot in the standings.
6
Kevin Harvick, 25.8 percent
Harvick has thrived on his stage points this season as he’d be way down in the standings without those 51 extra points.
5
Martin Truex Jr., 26.5 percent
Among the most consistent drivers to start the season, Truex has nine top-10 stage finishes for a whopping 73 points.
4
Ryan Blaney, 27.2 percent
Strong runs at the start of races have helped Blaney in the standings after a few poor finishes. His 61 stage points are fifth-most.
3
Kyle Larson, 27.6 percent
The points leader has scored the most stage points, too. With 87 stage points, Larson has been the class of the field from start to finish in most races. He’s tied with Brad Keselowski with points in 13 of 14 stages.

2
Chase Elliott, 28.5 percent
Sitting second in the standings, Elliott has been consistently near the front of the field with 85 stage points and 10 additional from his Can-Am Duel win at Daytona.

1
Brad Keselowski, 29.9 percent
This percentage is skewed a bit because of Keselowski’s 35-point fine for an encumbered finish at Phoenix. But scoring 82 stage points definitely helped make that fine hurt less. Two wins also did, too.
