Wow. What a day it was for some NASCAR news. Tony Stewart to retire, Clint Bowyer’s penalty was upheld and he will take Smoke’s place in 2017, Brian Scott’s hauler driver is indefinitely suspended, while Scott’s wife and Darrell Wallace Jr. are put on probation. To top it off, Joey Gase’s hauler, with his race car inside, went up in flames. What a bummer. Well, it has been a super-blood-moon kind of week.
The news about Tony and Clint by now is old news, and Joey’s burnt gear is sad, so let’s jump onto the Scott/Wallace incident. According to NASCAR.com and other sources, Wallace and Scott got together during the restart on lap 128 at Kentucky Speedway during Saturday’s XFINITY series race. The resulting contact was not kind to Scott, who finished 13th, and apparently sent his blood pressure to 1103/572. After the race, Scott nearly accosted Wallace who was still in his car. It also appears there was some sort of “incident” among Wallace and Scott’s wife and the driver of his hauler. After the fracas some words were exchanged on Twitter:
Whatever went down, it caused NASCAR to indefinitely suspend Scott’s hauler driver, Brian Allen, as well as throw down some probation on Brian’s wife, Whitney, and Bubba. Reading Scott’s tweet above seems to indicate that the conversation was a bit, um, unfriendly. Rumor is that Wallace is not expecting any Christmas cards from the Scott household this year. Which is too bad because I bet it will be adorable.
